Child Art Therapy

Creativity helps children make sense of the adult world. Younger children need to express their inner world before they are able to verbally articulate what they think and feel. Kids need a form of expression that matches the intensity and complexity of their experience, is direct but non-threatening, and is constructive and acceptable. Art therapy is uniquely able to meet these needs.

In my office children can freely create. The creative process stimulates healing for all children, whether they had traumatic experiences or just need help with life's daily challenges. I observe the creative process of children carefully and get important information about the child's development, behavior and feelings. I view the images of children's art as metaphors of their experiences and feelings. I work with parents and teachers of the child as a team to achive longlasting change and build strong support.

My areas of expertise include:

  • Child abuse
  • Effects of divorce on children
  • Overcoming traumatic experiences
  • Anger management
  • Life transition
